MUSIC MONDAY - Sun Charkhe Di Mithi Kook

Today's song is in celebration of Eid

A sufi ghazal in the Indian musical melody Raag Charukeshi, belonging to the late of the night; the composition stirs in the listener a bittersweet feeling of sadness and hope.

The sufi poem was penned by the revered Sufi Saint, Baba Bulleh Shah. As per Sufi poetic tradition, the Beloved (whose separation is being grieved) refers to the separation between the Almighty Creator and the Disciple, but can also be interpreted as a woman pining for her mortal Lover.
