An Evening with Harbhajan Mann
In March 2018, we were invited to perform a song and speak a few words at the House of Commons, about our experiences of being born and bred in London as British-Punjabi citizens and our connection to traditional Punjabi music.
The event was the first of it's kind, hosted by BBC Asian Network's Dipps Bhamrah with Tan Singh Dhesi MP honouring Harbhajan Mann and his 25 year contribution to Punjabi music and cinema.
Thank you once again to Tan and Kirat Raj for inviting us to be a part of this very special evening.
This particular song, 'Baabul Meriya Guddiyan' holds a special place in our heart - seated in the back of our Taya Ji's/Paternal Uncle's speedy little Maruti (as he drove our family through the expansive lush fields of our family village in Bathinda, Punjab) it was the first ever song we heard by Harbhajan Mann (waaaay back in 1995, aged 8), and the first of many moments on that trip to Punjab when we felt a connection to our ancestral homeland.
